Members Garage By Tom Kitchener
There is always stuff going on in my garage...
I work on everything, cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles,
household and wooden projects. When I was about 10 years
old (60 years ago) for Christmas I got a 4x8 sheet of plywood,
handsaw, socket set, screws and 4 wheels, best Christmas
ever, I built a go-cart.
Sandra's MGA which gets lots of road time needs very few
repairs. It was time to build something else. A few years ago I
bought a 1928 model A Ford chassis.
The story I was told " in 1928, for his new bride, the fellow
bought a brand new Model A Tudor. The couple kept the car
and on their 50th wedding anniversary they took it for a drive,
(probably 1978). The couple passed away and the car went to
an auction and was bought for the body to make a hotrod".
Our club member bought the complete chassis and driveline
and I bought it from him about 3 years ago. there was no luck
on getting the original body back. My plan was to build a
Huckster but it has evolved into a farm truck. complete with
all the bumps and bruises and wooden body. I put it together
from parts scrounged from club members, Kijiji and parts sup-
pliers. The cab and box I built from solid oak. Today it went for
its first drive down the ally as my own creation. The hopes are
to have it on the road for next summer.
